Why not make Christel and Tony's Chalet, in the Gold Coast Hinterland, the perfect base to discover the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves World Heritage area, which is made up of over 100,000 hectares of national parks. Hidden in the national parks are ancient Antarctic Beech trees, enormous expanses of subtropical rainforests, a diversity of plant species, bird and animal life, waterfalls and walking tracks, sheer cliff faces and rocky outcrops. Situated on a volcanic plateau, approximately 600 metres above the Gold Coast, one can experience the panoramic views to Brisbane, the Pacific Ocean and the Gold Coast skyline and beaches only 30 kilometres away. The Mountain provides a peace and tranquillity that is a complete contrast to the incessant daily noise and never ending demands on our time. It is a place to unwind, relax and breathe in the fresh, clean mountain air. Even in wet weather the Mountain is a special place, often shrouded in mist, as the clouds meet the tree-tops. Gallery Walk in Eagle Heights has the main concentration of tourist galleries and craft shops on Tamborine Mountain. This still doesn't stop it from being a scenic spot. When they are in flower the flame trees and jacarandas provide magnificent bursts of colour. With many well known artists and crafts people living on the Mountain there are shops, galleries, gardens and craft studios with something different for every taste and interest. The mountain also boasts its own wineries, with wine tasting and purchases available. The wines are comparable to the finest in this country. Your host Tony will be able to advise you in this respect. Sports enthusiasts are not forgotten. The mountain also offers for your enjoyment the use of tennis courts, gymnasium, lawn bowls and golf club. |
